Gettin Barrelled
You could literally be the worst surfer on the face of the Earth, but once you get barrelled, It's all you wanna do. Barrell riding is tricky because you have to be really good at standing still, staying confident and controlled for a long time, to get a solid barrell ride. Barrell riding is one of the easiest things to do on a surfboard. (Most of the time, I do understand how much skill, talent, and commitment it takes to charge heavier Barrells, but I'm mostly talking about average sized Cali Barrells). All you have to do is figure out what type of drop to take, and how to position yourself to get covered up, and after that, it's just a competition to stand as still as possible and enjoy the view. More talented barrell riders know how to pump in the barrell and ride the foam ball, but for your generic, California tube ride, you just gotta hold ur body position and not get scared and bail, and youll come out of most hollow waves. It's that simple. That's the best advice I can give someone trying to work on their barrell technique. Once you figure this out, you can then figure out how to ride more advanced waves and get more technical rides. (Foamball, Deep, etc.)
